DODOMA: Tanzania has reinforced its position as a hub of mining expertise in Africa by hosting a technical delegation from Burkina Faso seeking to learn best practices in sector operations.
The delegation led by the Economic, Monitoring and Evaluation Advisor from Burkina Faso’s Ministry of Energy, Mines and Quarries, Halidou Ouedraogo was received at the Ministry of Minerals offices in Mtumba, Dodoma.
Representing Tanzania, the discussions were led by Assistant Commissioner of Minerals for Small-Scale Mining, Eng Moses Kongola, on behalf of the Commissioner of Minerals.

Speaking during the meeting, Eng Kongola informed the delegates of Tanzania’s major reforms in strengthening governance, formalizing small-scale miners, environmental management, and improving the business environment in the mining sector.

Elaborating, he mentioned the government’s strategic investments in management systems, the establishment of clear policies, laws and investment-friendly regulations, and initiatives to promote mineral value addition, boosting the sector’s contribution to the national economy.
The leader of Burkina Faso delegation, Halidou Ouedraogo said his country was impressed by Tanzania’s measures in enhancing transparency and accountability, creating mechanisms for small-scale miners to operate formally, and integrating the mining sector with local economic development.
He added that the visit aimed to gain practical insights to improve policies, management systems, and development strategies for Burkina Faso’s mining sector.
