
DAR ES SALAAM: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to implementing the Agenda 2063 development goals.
The Prime Minister made the statement when representing President Samia Suluhu Hassan at the 43rd AUDA-NEPAD Heads of State and Government Summit, which was held virtually from the Prime Minister’s Office in Magogoni, Dar es Salaam.
Speaking at the meeting, the Premier noted that Tanzania continues to strengthen its commitment to implementing Agenda 2063 through strategic investments in infrastructure, agriculture, and human capital development.
Elaborating, Dr Nchemba mentioned the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project, which will generate 2,115 megawatts of electricity, as well as the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) linking Tanzania with Burundi and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to strengthen regional connectivity as key projects implemented.

According to the PM, Tanzania believes that Africa can become a better place to live for current and future generations if everyone fully commits to protecting and sustainably conserving the environment.
“To achieve our development goals, we must strengthen domestic revenue collection, combat illicit financial flows, and wisely harness Africa’s vast natural resources to effectively finance Agenda 2063,” he said.
At the meeting, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi concluded his term as Chair of the AUDA-NEPAD Heads of State and Government Committee and handed over the position to Angola’s President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço.
Countries that participated in the summit included Egypt, Tanzania, Angola, Libya, South Africa, Ghana, and Zimbabwe.
The meeting also saw the participation of African Development Bank (AfDB) President Dr Sidi Ould Tah, as well as Afreximbank President and Board Chair Dr George Elombi.
