KILWA: OVER 150 tourists from nine countries who are in the country, have toured the Kilwa Kisiwani ruins park on the island.

The tourists are from Canada, France, the UK, the USA, Switzerland, Spain, Australia, Belgium, and Seychelles.

The Tanzania Tourism Board, in collaboration with the Tanzania Wildlife Management Authority (TAWA) and private sector stakeholders participated in the reception of the cruise ship Le Bellot, which carried the tourists.

According to information from TTB, the tourists had the opportunity to visit the Kilwa Kisiwani ruins and experience the historical and cultural heritage of the people of Kilwa.

After the visit, the ship departed for Zanzibar to continue its scheduled itinerary.

TTB further noted that the arrival of this ship is a sign of the growing cruise tourism in the country and demonstrates the joint contribution of the public and private sectors in creating new economic opportunities, employment, and domestic revenue.

Moreover, the Tanzania Tourism Board pledges to continue to work closely with stakeholders to ensure that ports in the country, especially in the southern region, become major hubs for receiving cruise ships.
