
DODOMA: DODOMA Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule has directed the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (RUWASA) in Chemba District to conduct a comprehensive assessment of areas surrounding a water project to identify residents eligible for compensation.
Ms Senyamule issued the directive during a recent inspection tour of development projects in Chemba District, stressing the need to safeguard water sources while protecting citizens’ rights.
“I direct RUWASA to undertake a thorough assessment to identify wananchi who deserve compensation, with the aim of protecting this vital water source while safeguarding public interests,” she said.
Briefing the Regional Commissioner, RUWASA Chemba District Water Engineer, Deogratius Kambarage said more than 11bn/- has been received for implementation of the water project, which is expected to significantly improve access to clean and safe water services in the district.
During the tour, Ms Senyamule also inspected the construction of Chemba Primary School in Goima Division and commended the progress of the new school project valued at 397.2m/-.

Upon completion, the project is expected to improve the teaching and learning environment for pupils, teachers and the surrounding community.
Apart from the water and school projects, the Regional Commissioner inspected other development initiatives, including an apple farming demonstration plot with 400 seedlings, construction of staff houses at Chemba District Hospital and upgrading of roads to tarmac level.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to closely supervising development projects to ensure value for money and improved service delivery.
“The government will continue overseeing development projects to ensure wananchi see value for money and receive quality services that drive social and economic transformation,” she said.
