DAR ES SALAAM: THE Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has announced the upgrading of its service systems to be effective from March 2, 2026.

Information from the authority today, February 24, 2026, said all applications for permits and licenses will be processed through the new system known as EWURA e-Service.

According to EWURA, the old LOIS system will no longer be used for applying for construction permits and licenses from March 2, 2026.

However, the LOIS system will continue to be used for receiving customer complaints, the authority added.

The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) is an autonomous multi-sectoral regulatory authority established by the EWURA Act, Cap 414 of the laws of Tanzania, responsible for technical and economic regulation of the electricity, petroleum, natural gas and water sectors in Tanzania pursuant to Cap 414 and sector legislation.

The functions of EWURA include, among others, issuing licenses, regulating rates and charges, making rules, monitoring the performance of the regulated sectors, facilitating the resolution of complaints and disputes between service providers and consumers of regulated goods and services and disseminating information about matters relevant to its functions.
