
DODOMA: THE Tanzanian President and Commander-in-Chief of the Tanzania Defence Forces, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, has hailed the completion of the new National Defence Headquarters in Dodoma saying it is a symbol of the nation’s maturity and proof of the Tanzanians ability to plan, decide, and execute major projects using local resources and expertise.
Speaking at the inauguration of the headquarters’ building, President Samia said the investment strengthens national decision-making autonomy and enhances the country’s prestige in defense matters across Africa. She emphasized that Tanzania is now among the countries that prioritize defense activities.
However, President Samia warned that the building should not remain merely a source of visual pride, but should be fully utilized to strengthen national defense management. She stressed that the headquarters should serve as a center for strategic thinking, professional analysis, and scientific coordination of defense strategies aligned with contemporary challenges.

President Samia noted that in today’s global security environment, defense is not only about weapons but also relies on intelligence gathering and analysis, modern technology, robust communication systems, and high professional expertise.
She added that after visiting the facility, she was satisfied with the progress made in adopting modern technology and systems, while emphasizing the importance of strengthening subsequent phases of construction.
Furthermore, President Samia pledged to ensure that the remaining phases of the project are completed on time, in order to continue enhancing the nation’s capacity to protect its borders, interests, and national security.
