TANGA; THE Port of Tanga has continued to position itself as a preferred gateway for traders and logistics stakeholders after successfully receiving two marine vessels, MV BBC WASHINGTON and MV ZI-JING-SONG, both carrying heavy modern equipment for various ongoing projects in the country.

The two ships docked at the port, with one transporting power control equipment for the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project to Uganda, and the other delivering modern power generation equipment belonging to the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO).

The Implementation Manager from East Africa Logistics Services, Steve Miller, who is overseeing the equipment, said that 95 units of machinery were transported by MV BBC WASHINGTON from Singapore and are expected to be moved to Chongoleani in Tanga Region for use in controlling electricity along the EACOP oil pipeline to Uganda.
