CARTAGENA: TANZANIA has taken central stage in the 2nd International Conference on Agriculture, Land, and Rural Development, going on in Cartagena, Colombia, where the  Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office – Regional Administration and Local Government (PMO-RALG), Professor Riziki Shemdoe, is leading the Tanzanian delegation.

Prof. Shemdoe represents President Samia Suluhu Hassan, who accepted an invitation from Colombian President Gustavo Petro Urrego to attend the conference.

The event, which was officially opened on February 24, 2026, has brought together delegates from over 100 countries tackling issues of agriculture, land management, and rural development.

The conference aims to identify strategies for sustainable land use in agriculture, reduce land-related conflicts, and accelerate rural development.

Participants also exchange experiences on leveraging technology to improve agricultural productivity and benefit rural communities.

Prof. Shemdoe is accompanied by Deputy Minister of Agriculture David Silinde and technical experts from PMO-RALG and the Ministry of Agriculture.

The delegation’s participation reflects President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s commitment to transforming agriculture in Tanzania, improving livelihoods, and ensuring a lasting positive impact for citizens.

The five-day conference is scheduled to conclude on February 28, 2026.
