MOROGORO: AFTER a stellar performance in the Mkwawa Rally of Iringa, Morogoro-based young driver, Walid Nahdi says he is  now fully winged to fly higher and faster towards the 2026 National Rally Championship (NRC) title.

Staged in Iringa last week,  Mkwawa Rally was the 2026 season opener that heightened young Nahdi’s status as among the NRC title favourites.

Navigated by Ally Hamoud, Walid Nahdi powered his Subaru Impreza N11 to the second position after clocking 55 minutes and 29 seconds, the event’s second best time.

“ It was my career best performance to finish ahead of Harinder Deere, one of the top rally drivers in East Africa.,” he said.

Navigated by Victor Jackson in Mitsubishi EVO X, Dar es Salaam’s Harinder Deere finished third  overall  after spending 0:55:37.

Besides  finishing second overall, was the winner of the NRC 3  category as Deere claimed the runner up position while Kartic Valambhia from Morogoro claimed the third position NRC3 category.

For Walid Nahdi, his success in the motorsports came sooner than the expectations.

“My career in motorsports began last year  under the guidance of veteran navigator, Awadh Bafadhil. Now a year later, I feel Iam fully ripe for dusty road racing,” he stated.
