KIBAHA: COOPERATIVE Associations’ Executives have been tasked to consider the use of technology to strengthen accountability, good governance and a culture of positive results in the operation of such associations and to be of international standards.
Speaking while launching training for Leaders and Executives of the Cooperative Audit and Supervision Organization (COASCO) on Accounting, IT and Tax Issues, Kibaha District Commissioner, Nickson Simoni said the training has covered important topics that will help strengthen the performance and management of cooperatives.
“I urge leaders and executives of cooperatives to consider this training that will help you run your associations with professionalism, transparency and accountability, as well as building a culture of positive results in the operation of your associations.

He added: “Cooperatives have made a significant contribution to building the economic capacity of farmers and ordinary citizens, especially in the production and marketing of crops such as tobacco, coffee, cotton and cashew nuts, as well as savings and credit services. However, the success of these associations depends largely on good leadership, accountability, effective management of finances and resources, and compliance with accounting and tax laws and procedures.
He said the Cooperatives Audit and Supervision Organization (COASCO), has fulfilled its responsibilities as stipulated in Article No. 4(1)(b) and (d) of the Cooperative Societies Audit and Supervision Act, Chapter 185, 2023 Edition, has organized this three-day training with the aim of building the capacity of Cooperative Society Leaders and Executives in the areas of leadership, resource management, and preparation of financial statements that comply with international accounting standards.
“This training, which will continue until June 19, 2026, has covered sensitive topics that are of great benefit to the operation of your parties. Among these topics are issues of leadership and organizational development, international accounting standards including TFRS 1 and IAS 21, financial analysis, crop accounting management; tax laws and procedures; export business management; as well as the use of IT and advanced Excel in financial operations.
He emphasized that this training has included the topic of mental health, which is very important for the well-being of leaders and executives in carrying out their daily duties.
“The knowledge you will gain here is not only for your personal benefit, but is for the operation of your parties with professionalism, transparency, accountability and productivity, which will also contribute to the economic development of our country.

For her part, COASCO’s Acting Business Consulting Manager, CPA Anna Thomas Shao, said the training, which will be held from June 17 to 19, 2026, covered various productive topics including leadership, preparation of year-end financial statements based on international accounting standards, taxes, and the use of IT.
Meanwhile, SACCOS Standards Chief Executive Officer, CPA Khalid Massawe, on behalf of the training participants, said the training will contribute to increasing efficiency in the performance, record keeping and operation of the associations.
