
MWANZA: SECURITY situation in Mwanza Region is calm and residents continue with their activities without disruption, Regional Police Commander Wilbrod Mutafungwa has said.
Briefing journalists in Mwanza City recently, Mr Mutafungwa said there were no indications of threats to peace and security in the region.
He said the Police Force has intensified security measures by deploying additional officers to strategic locations to safeguard lives and property.
Speaking during the commemoration of Sabasaba (International Trade Fair) Day in Mwanza City, Mr Mutafungwa urged the public not to be alarmed by the increased police presence, explaining that the deployment is intended to further strengthen public safety.
“It is our responsibility to protect the lives and property of citizens, and we will continue to discharge that duty with professionalism and diligence,” he said.

He called on residents to regard the increased deployment of police officers as a positive measure to enhance security rather than a cause for concern.
The Regional Police Commander also warned anyone planning to engage in criminal activities or disrupt public order that the Police Force is fully prepared to take decisive action in accordance with the law.
“We will not allow anyone to disrupt peace or engage in criminal activities. Firm legal action will be taken against anyone found violating the law,” he said.
