
NAIROBI: EAST Africa’s leading female golfers will converge on Kenya’s coastline from August 3 to 8 for the 2026 Ladies Coast Golf Open Festival, a week-long showcase of women’s golf to be staged across four premier courses.
The festival will feature tournaments at Malindi Golf & Country Club, the PGA Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge, Diamonds Leisure Golf Club, Mombasa Golf Club and Nyali Golf & Country Club, bringing together some of the region’s finest amateur golfers, including Tanzanians.
According to Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TLGU) President Timea Chogo, the Kenya Ladies Golf Union (KLGU) has extended an invitation to Tanzanian golfers to participate in the festival, which tees off on Monday, August 3, with the Malindi Golf & Country Club Ladies Open before moving to the PGA Baobab Course at Vipingo Ridge on Tuesday, August 4.
Golfers will enjoy a rest day on Wednesday, August 5, before returning to action for the Diamonds Leisure Golf Club Ladies Open on Thursday, August 6.
The competitive programme reaches its climax with the prestigious Mombasa Golf Club Ladies Open (GOTY) on Friday, August 7, before concluding with a social golf event at Nyali Golf and Country Club on Saturday, August 8.
The week-long festival is expected to attract elite amateur golfers from across East Africa, providing valuable competitive exposure while strengthening regional ties and advancing the growth of women’s golf.

Tanzania’s top players, including Neema Olomi, Vicky Elias, Hawa Wanyeche, Ayne Magombe and Yasmin Chali, have consistently raised the country’s profile with impressive performances in regional competitions likely to do the same this year around.
Their participation is expected to add further excitement as Tanzania seeks another strong showing on the East African stage.
Players will compete under the rules of golf approved by the R&A, with additional local rules set by the tournament committee.
A 95 per cent handicap allowance will apply, with Division A catering for handicaps of -5 to 20 and Division B for handicaps of 20 to 35.
