DODOMA: PRESIDENT  Samia Suluhu Hassan has today, July  25, 2026, led the nation in commemorating Heroes Day, paying tribute to Tanzanians who sacrificed their lives in the struggle for the country’s freedom, peace and security.

The Head of State, who is also the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, presided over the national event held at the Mashujaa Grounds in Mtumba, Dodoma, where she underscored the country’s enduring respect for its fallen heroes.

President Samia arrived at the venue to full military honours before the national anthems of Tanzania and the East African Community were played.

In one of the ceremony’s key moments, the President laid a wreath at the Heroes Monument in recognition of the courage, patriotism and selfless service of men and women who dedicated their lives to defending the nation.

The annual commemoration brought together senior government leaders, commanders of the defence and security forces, retired military officers, religious leaders, diplomats and members of the public.

Heroes Day, observed every July 25, honours the country’s heroes who fought for Tanzania’s independence and those who made the ultimate sacrifice in safeguarding the nation’s peace, security and national interests.
