DAR ES SALAAM: THE Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) Council has honoured Prof Kareem Manji for his unwavering dedication to academic and research excellence, particularly in the field of child health.

For more than three decades, Prof Manji has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of MUHAS, offering exceptional support to both students and staff. His commitment to teaching and mentoring has shaped generations of undergraduate and postgraduate students specializing in pediatrics and child health.

MUHAS Council Chairman, Dr. Harrison Mwakyembe, praised Prof Manji’s lasting impact, noting that his work has uplifted lives not only in Tanzania but around the world.

“Your impact extends across the university, the nation, and the international academic community, shaping the next generation of medical professionals,” Dr Mwakyembe said during the 79th MUHAS Council meeting held on Friday.

The university also highlighted Prof Manji’s remarkable scholarly output. He has authored 295 publications, including 30 in 2024/25, in globally renowned journals such as BMC Pediatrics, Frontiers in Pediatrics, and The Lancet Global Health.

MUHAS Vice Chancellor, Prof Appolinary Kamuhabwa, emphasized that his dedication and achievements have elevated the university’s reputation on the global stage.
