During his visit to the area, the Minister instructed the Managers of the Tanzania National Roads Agency (TANROADS) across the country to ensure there are no unnecessary traffic jams that hinder and slow down economic and social activities for citizens.

The minister gave the instructions when inspecting the progress of the expansion of the Mbagala Rangi Tatu – Kongowe road (3.8 km), where he spoke with residents of the area.

In his instructions, the minister laid emphasis on the matter by cautioning the managers that he does not want to see citizens harmed or prevented from carrying out their activities caused by the ongoing rainfalls due to failure to address such issues on time.

“I want you to work diligently and not as a routine by considering the situation as just a normal issue. When a road is cut off, it means the manager is not inspecting the road to identify weak points that could easily lead to damage. I want this to change,” he said.

Furthermore, Minister Ulega instructed the TANROADS Manager for the Coastal region to ensure the old Morogoro road is rehabilitated as soon as possible so it can serve as an alternative route to resolve the problem of vehicles getting stuck on the main highway from Dar es Salaam to Chalinze.
