FEZ: THE Deputy Minister for Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Paul Makonda, has boosted the morale of players and the technical bench of Tanzania’s national football team, Taifa Stars, during a visit to their training camp at the Barcelo Convention Center Hotel in Fez, Morocco.
Addressing the players and the technical team, Makonda urged them to play with full commitment, discipline and patriotism whenever they wear the national jersey. He emphasized that all Tanzanians are firmly behind them, offering support, encouragement and prayers so that the team can bring honor to the nation.
“The entire nation has great confidence in you. Play with heart, unity and dedication, knowing that millions of Tanzanians are praying for you and supporting you,” said Makonda.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, Methusela Ntonda; the Ministry’s Director of Policy and Planning, Abel Philip; the Assistant Director of the Sports Department, Alex Nkeyenge; as well as Professor Madundo Mtambo, a member of the National Committee for AFCON 2027 preparations.
On their part, Taifa Stars players thanked Makonda and his delegation for the visit and encouragement, pledging to give their best on the pitch.
Taifa Stars are scheduled to play their first match on December 23, 2025, in Fes, Morocco, against Nigeria’s national team.
