ZANZIBAR: YOUNG Africans SC will be in action today against Singida Black Stars in the second semifinal of the Mapinduzi Cup, with the high-stakes encounter set to take place at the New Amaan Complex in Zanzibar.

Yanga booked place in the semi-final following a hardfought 1–0 victory over TRA United, while Singida Black Stars advanced after holding URA FC to a 1–1 draw, setting up an intriguing clash between two well matched sides.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Yanga Head Coach, Pedro Goncalves, expressed confidence in his team’s preparations, while acknowledging the quality of their opponents.

“We are coming into this game well prepared. The players have worked hard in training, focusing on both our tactical approach and physical readiness and we know we are facing a very good team.

Singida BS are organised, competitive, and fully deserve to be at this stage of the tournament,” said Goncalves.

The Portuguese tactician added that despite facing injury setbacks to some key players, his side remains focused and determined.

“We are missing important players due to injuries, but this also presents an opportunity for other players to step up. We have achieved our objectives in preparation, and I believe we will win and qualify for the final,” he noted.

On the other side, Singida Black Stars Head Coach, David Ouma, struck a confident tone, emphasising tactical discipline as the key to overcoming one of the league’s most attacking teams.

“We know that Young Africans are a very attacking side and extremely dangerous going forward and our approach is to play with discipline, follow our tactical plan, and limit their strength. If we control the game well, we believe we can qualify for the final,” Ouma said.
