DAR ES SALAA: THE management of MOIL Energies fuel depot has commended the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) for introducing a 24-hour working system at petroleum storage facilities, saying the move will significantly improve efficiency in service delivery.

Speaking shortly after TRA Commissioner General Yusuph Juma Mwenda visited the depot in Kigamboni, Dar es Salaam, Depot Supervisor Dr Sajad Habib Rai, who is also Resident Manager of Mansoor Industries, said the initiative has been warmly received by oil traders.

Dr Rai said MOIL Energies currently has sufficient fuel reserves, with additional shipments expected as vessels that have already docked begin discharging petroleum products.

He noted that the extended working hours for TRA officials at depot facilities will enhance operational efficiency and smooth fuel distribution processes.

“I take this opportunity to commend Commissioner Mwenda for his leadership. TRA has become increasingly supportive to business operators. Every day we are seeing new improvements that help us operate more efficiently,” Dr Rai said

He also expressed support for TRA’s recently introduced fuel distribution regulations for diesel and petrol, saying they have helped curb diversion and ensured that fuel deliveries reach intended destinations.

Earlier, Commissioner General Mwenda said TRA has put in place arrangements to ensure 24-hour operations at fuel depots, while emphasizing the need for strict compliance to prevent malpractice in fuel handling.

He further assured the public that there is no fuel shortage in the country, urging stakeholders to adhere to established procedures to ensure smooth and transparent fuel distribution.

“We continue to emphasize that there is sufficient fuel in the country. We urge all suppliers to strictly follow regulations,” Mwenda said.

Mwenda also called on fuel traders to cooperate with the authority to ensure uninterrupted 24-hour service, aimed at improving efficiency in the national fuel supply chain.
