DAR ES SALAAM: SPEAKER of Parliament, Mussa Azan Zungu, has commended CRDB Bank through the CRDB Foundation for constructing a modern school worth 5bn/-in Dar es Salaam, describing the project as a significant educational investment that will benefit generations of Tanzanians.

Speaking during an inspection of the school’s construction progress, Zungu said the project demonstrates how the private sector can effectively partner with the government to improve social services, particularly education.

However, he noted that construction progress had been somewhat affected by the heavy rains recently experienced in Dar es Salaam. He urged the contractor to accelerate the work and ensure that at least 50 percent of the project is completed before the next rainy season begins.

The Speaker also emphasized the importance of protecting and maintaining public infrastructure so that it can continue serving communities effectively for many years.

Meanwhile, Tully Esther Mwambapa, Chief Executive Director of the CRDB Foundation, said the model school is being built as part of the celebrations marking the 30th anniversary of CRDB Bank’s achievements.

She explained that the project is intended to support government efforts to strengthen the education sector by providing a modern learning environment equipped with high-quality facilities for both students and teachers.

The school will feature science laboratories, a modern library, a digital library, sports grounds, teachers’ offices, and other essential facilities designed to provide students with a quality education aligned with global technological advancements.

The project’s contractor, Anna Kabisa, expressed gratitude to CRDB Bank and the CRDB Foundation for entrusting her team with the major construction project.

She said that although the contract allows for completion within ten months, the construction team is committed to accelerating the work to finish the school as early as possible.

Kabisa added that the challenging foundation stage has already been completed, meaning that any future rainfall is unlikely to significantly disrupt the current phases of construction.

He explained that while the official schedule targets completion in March 2027, the team aims to finish all construction works by December 2026, allowing the first group of students to begin classes in January 2027.

Msilanga said achieving this target would further demonstrate the CRDB Foundation’s commitment to advancing education in Tanzania through investment in modern and high-quality infrastructure.
