KIGOMA: THE Kigoma Regional Immigration Office has arrested 95 illegal immigrants as part of ongoing special operations aimed at curbing unlawful immigration in the region.
Speaking about the operation, Kigoma Deputy Immigration Officer ACI Jeremiah Mwakibinga confirmed the arrests, stating that the suspects are nationals of Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and Rwanda.
He said the individuals were apprehended in various locations across Kigoma-Ujiji Municipality, including guest houses, bus terminals, and entertainment venues, following a coordinated crackdown conducted by immigration officers in collaboration with other security agencies.
According to ACI Mwakibinga, preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects either entered or were residing in Tanzania in violation of the country’s immigration laws, prompting legal action against them.
