MWANZA: ILEMELA Municipal Council in Mwanza region has continued to maintain a record of sound financial management after receiving a clean audit certificate for the 2024/2025 financial year, thus reaching four consecutive years of receiving the certificate from the Controller and Auditor General (CAG).

The remarks was made today by the External Auditor General of Mwanza Region, CPA Richson Ringo, while presenting the report on the results of the audit of the council’s accounts for the 2024/2025 financial year.

CPA Ringo said the audit results show that Ilemela Municipal Council has received a clean Opinion (Unqualified Opinion), which demonstrates that its financial statements have been prepared in accordance with the standards required by law and accounting principles.

 He said that these achievements continue the record of the Council which has been receiving Clean Audit Certificates for four consecutive years from the financial year 2021/2022 to 2024/2025.

He explained that in accordance with the Local Government Finance Act of 1982, as amended in 2019, each Council is responsible for submitting its financial statements to the CAG after the end of the financial year for review and audit opinions.

For his part, the Mwanza Regional Administrative Secretary, Mr Balandya Elikana, has asked the Director of Ilemela Municipality to submit the work plan of the Audit Committee within 14 days to expedite the implementation of audit recommendations.
