PARIS: TANZANIA’S young basketball players from Dream Chaser Basketball Academy and World Squad Basketball have earned international recognition after finishing third at the Paris World Games, a global tournament that brought together teams from 14 countries.

The achievement was celebrated by Tanzania’s Ambassador to France, Saidi Othman Yakubu, who met the players at the Tanzanian Embassy in Paris and praised their performance, describing the victory as a reflection of the talent, discipline and determination of Tanzanian youth.

Speaking at a meeting with the youth, Ambassador Yakubu said the team’s success, including defeating opponents from different countries such as the United States and producing the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, has placed Tanzania on the global sports map.

He further urged the players to continue maintaining discipline and hard work as ambassadors of the country.

Team leader Jovin Charles thanked the government for supporting sports development and appreciated the Tanzanian community in France for their encouragement and support throughout the competition.

Moreover, he said continued cooperation would help create more opportunities for young athletes to showcase their talents internationally.
