DAR ES SALAAM: THE state-owned GAS Company (GASCO) is expanding into engineering and consultancy services as it seeks oil and gas contracts in domestic, regional and international markets, leveraging more than a decade of experience managing the country’s natural gas infrastructure.

The move marks a strategic shift from operating gas assets to providing technical expertise as the country accelerates investment in gas infrastructure to support industrialisation and cleaner energy.

“We are preparing to compete in the consultancy services market for the oil and gas sector, both locally and internationally,” GASCO Senior Engineer Hassan Temba said.

GASCO began full operations in 2015 after the commissioning of the national natural gas infrastructure. It operates the Madimba and Songo Songo gas processing plants, the country’s more than 500-kilometre natural gas pipeline and distribution networks serving power producers, industries, institutions, compressed natural gas (CNG) stations and households.
