DAR ES SALAAM: IT has been duly confirmed today, July 15, 2026, that Serengeti Mkwawa Rally, is the official name of the fourth and final round of this year’s National Rally Championship to rev off in Morogoro in September this year.
The event’s coordinator and title sponsor, Ahmed Huwel confirmed it upon landing at the Julius Nyerere International Airport in Dar es Salaam after his excellent performance in the Rwanda’s Mountain Gorilla Rally over the weekend.
“We expected to stage a spectacular event that will thrill everyone as all top drivers will be in Morogoro to showcase their driving skills,” said Huwel, who is also the winner of Tanzania top driver award for 2025.
Before coming to Tanzania, Rwanda hosted the third round of the African Rally Championship in July, two months after Uganda hosted the Pearl of Africa Rally, the second round of ARC for this year.
One of the notable names expected to spice up the dusty race challenge include Samman Vohra of Kenya who missed the third round in Rwanda after finishing second overall in Uganda’s Pearl of Africa Rally.
“ He will join us with a new car and his presence will add colours to the Serengeti Mkwawa Rally, the year-ender,” disclosed Rahim Suleiman, who navigates Huwel in their Toyota GR Yaris.

“We could have easily won the rally hadn’t been for three punctures in the three final stages,” said Rahim Suleiman one of the most experienced Tanzanian navigators.
So far two Tanzanians have staged stellar performances in the two past ARC events. Before Mkwawa team’s brilliance in Rwanda, Randeep Birdi finished second in Uganda’s Pearl of Africa Rally.
