MKUU: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has directed the Ministry of Finance to expedite the release of funds to enable the Ministry of Works to begin construction of already signed road projects.
The Prime Minister gave directions in Rombo District, Kilimanjaro Region, while inspecting the Holili–Rotima–Tarakea Nayemi road project, spanning 52.8 kilometers, where he also instructed the construction of the Ikuini–Kirongo Chini section, covering 10 kilometers, to commence immediately.

Elaborating, the minister said that the road is important because it passes through border areas and agricultural production zones.

“This road will boost trade, tourism services, and increase efficiency at the Tanzania–Kenya border post (Tarakea),” he said.
Earlier the Deputy Minister for Works, Eng Godfrey Kasekenya, informed citizens of the government’s plans to construct the entire 52.8-kilometer Holili–Rotima–Tarakea Nayemi road to tarmac standard.

Moreover, he stated that the remaining task is to compensate 1,143 residents with more than 14.6bn/- for giving up their land to pave the way for the project.
Additionally, Eng Kasekenya said the government will construct the 40-kilometer Elerai–Kamwanga road to better connect Rombo and Siha districts and create a tarmac ring road around Mount Kilimanjaro which will stimulate tourism growth in the region.
