Chogo, a passionate and dedicated golfer, was the sole candidate for the presidency.
Prior to the vote, she assured TLGU members of her readiness to lead and pledged to build upon the foundation laid by her predecessor.
The election also saw several other officials elected unopposed that sawa Ayne Magombe elected vice-president, Eliana Kitaly (honorary secretary), Jennifer Hilary (honorary treasurer) and Chiku Elias (handicap secretary).
Speaking on behalf of president Chogo, who was unable to attend due to work commitments, vice-president Ayne Magombe expressed optimism about the union’s future.
“We are committed and ready for the job. Expect great things, more growth and more flourishing of the game. But we need your support. Support our member clubs and the game, especially for young girls,” she said.
The election was overseen by Ingridy Kimaro, Senior Sports Officer from the National Sports Council (NSC), who praised members for conducting a peaceful and orderly election. She congratulated the newly elected leaders and urged them to work in unity.
“Be united, because the Union belongs to everyone. Plan your strategies carefully. Challenges should be addressed with both short-term and longterm plans. Set timelines for each strategy. The Council will continue to cooperate and work with you at all times,” she advised.
Outgoing president Queen Siraki congratulated the new leadership team and pledged her continued support and guidance whenever needed.
“It is a great day for the Union and for all of us to have new leadership. Any progress depends on good leadership. I urge members to support them, love them and keep them informed so they can lead effectively,” she said.
