
ZANZIBAR: THE Deputy Minister for Home Affairs, Ayoub Mohammed Mahmoud, has inspected three major Immigration Department projects in Zanzibar worth more than 25bn/-.
The projects include the construction of the West Urban District Commander’s office, the Southern District Immigration Center, and the Immigration College.
Speaking earlier today after the inspections, the Deputy Minister urged contractors to complete the works on schedule, noting that the government will not tolerate delays that hinder officers from working in adequate facilities.

According to the minister, the West Urban District building and the college project are expected to be completed by the end of March 2026.
Analyzing the project costs, he stated that the West Urban District project is valued at 9.9bn/-, the Southern District center at 3.1bn/-, and the college project at 12bn/-.
Additionally, he said that all the funds have been provided by the government and that the infrastructure improvements are aligned with the strengthening of digital systems to ensure that immigration services are delivered professionally and efficiently.
