DODOMA: OVER 300 Tanzanians have visited the Rural and Urban Roads Agency (TARURA) pavilion since the start of the Public Service Week Exhibition, receiving education and clarification on the implementation of various district road projects in their areas.

The move has continued to strengthen the relationship between citizens and the institution while providing an opportunity to listen to and solve the challenges facing citizens directly.

Speaking at the exhibition, the Head of Public Relations and Communications Unit, Catherine Sungura said people  who submit their concerns are connected directly with the managers of the relevant areas to obtain detailed information and quick solutions.

“We receive many citizens from different parts of2 Tanzania who many want to know about the construction or maintenance of roads in their areas and therefore most of them get answers on the spot as they speak directly with the managers of the region or district concerned”.

He said the goal of TARURA is to ensure that citizens receive accurate information about the projects being implemented and the various stages of their development.

Sungura gave the example of a citizen from Kimara in Dar es Salaam, Sarah Joseph, who arrived at the banda and wanted to know how far the construction of the Kimara to King’ongo road has progressed.

“The citizen was able to contact the Ubungo District Manager and get clarification and thus received answers with joy and satisfaction with the service he received at the TARURA booth.

Speaking about the progress of the construction of the King’ongo road located in Kimara, Ubungo District in Dar es Salaam region, Sungura said the road is being built at a concrete level from TRA towards King’ong’o where only 1.6 kilometers remain and of that, 800 meters are expected to be built starting in July this year, with the remaining part being completed in the next phase.

Sungura stressed that TARURA will continue to improve road infrastructure to facilitate transport and communication for citizens and that good roads stimulate access to social services, trade and other development activities, a step that contributes to raising social welfare and boosting the economy of various areas in the country.

For her part, Sarah thanked TARURA for their work and the great efforts they make every day to help citizens in the matter of road communication in the country.
