DAR ES SALAAM: THE 50th Dar es Salaam International Trade Fair (DITF), widely known as Sabasaba, is now 99 per cent complete, with organisers confident the landmark exhibition is fully on track to open its doors to thousands of local and international exhibitors and visitors.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Ambassador Waziri Salum, said only minor finishing works remain, noting that most exhibition pavilions are already operational and actively hosting early activity ahead of the official opening.

Speaking on Monday after inspecting the exhibition grounds in Dar es Salaam ahead of the minister’s scheduled visit on Wednesday this week. Salum completed organisers for what he described as near-flawless preparations for one of Tanzania’s most significant annual trade events.

“I am satisfied with the level of readiness. We are now above 99 per cent completion, and only final touches remain. The organisation has been excellent,” he said.

Ambassador Salum said this year’s fair has recorded strong demand from both local and international exhibitors, with applications for exhibition space exceeding expectations.

He explained that the high participation underscores the fair’s growing role as a regional hub for trade, investment, and business networking.

The Permanent Secretary also highlighted noticeable improvements in product quality among Tanzanian manufacturers, particularly women-led enterprises, noting better packaging, branding, and competitiveness in both domestic and international markets.

He urged Tanzanians to prioritise locally produced goods in order to strengthen domestic industries and support economic growth while reaffirming government commitment to improving the business environment for entrepreneurs.

Ambassador Salum added that participation from more than 23 countries presents a major opportunity for Tanzania businesses to showcase products, build partnerships, and expand access to global markets.

He encouraged exhibitors to fully utilise the Sabasaba platform to market their brands, demonstrate quality standards, and engage potential investors and buyers from across the world.
