MBEYA: BASKETBALL returns to centre stage in Mbeya as the 2026 Mbeya Basketball League tips off on 11–12 July at the Roman Catholic Youth Centre with four opening fixtures.
According to information released by Joginda Msai, an official from the league organising committee, preparations for the new season have been completed, paving the way for another competitive campaign expected to showcase some of the region’s finest basketball talent.
The opening weekend promises a thrilling start as both the men and women’s categories battle get underway. On Saturday.
Msai said that the women’s encounter between defending champion Flames Queens and Kimondo Rippers will officially tip off the new season before attention shifts to the men’s fixture where Flames face Hunters in what is anticipated to be a fiercely contested battle.
Action will continue on Sunday, with City Bullets taking on Wolves before Tiger square off against Vipers in another men’s battle, completing the first round of opening games.
The announcement signals the return of one of Mbeya Region’s most anticipated sporting competitions, bringing together clubs, players, coaches and supporters in a celebration of basketball development.
