DAR ES SALAAM: WEEKEND of commanding victories, explosive batting and thrilling finishes has brought the Petrofuel TCA Caravans T20 Cup 2026 closer to its decisive stage, with Aurobindo AKSC, Alliance Caravans and Mapito Upanga SC emerging as leading title contenders.
The latest Super Six matches at Leaders Ground delivered the full excitement of T20 cricket, including a crushing 120- run victory, a blistering nine-wicket chase completed in just eight overs and a tense encounter decided with only two balls remaining.
Tournament representative, Girish Kumar, said the latest round reflected the tournament’s rising standards.
“This weekend showcased the best of T20 cricket. We saw dominant bowling, fearless batting and a thrilling finish. The race for the PigaBet Player of the Series Award is also heating up because it rewards players who consistently influence matches with bat, ball and in the field,” Kumar said.
Mapito Upanga SC opened the weekend in style, crushing Tossil SCC by 120 runs after posting 164 for eight, before dismissing their opponents for just 44.
Sanjay Bom led the batting with a rapid 42 off 19 balls, while Ramesh Alluri claimed a brilliant five for 15 and Ajay Yadav conceded only eight runs in four overs.
Mapito, however, suffered a narrow four-wicket defeat to Alliance Caravans despite Fersico Adams’ unbeaten 80, which included seven sixes, and Alishihab Bukhari’s 58 helping them post 162 for six.
Alliance responded superbly through Ajith K Augastin (61) and Amal Rajeevan (46), chasing down the target with two balls to spare.
“Alliance remained calm under pressure, built key partnerships and completed a difficult chase against one of the tournament’s strongest teams,” Kumar added.
Aurobindo AKSC produced the weekend’s fastest chase after restricting Tossil SCC to 110 for nine before racing to 113 for one in only eight overs.
Dhrumit Mehta smashed 57 off 26 balls, while Abhik Patwa added 40 from 19 deliveries. Earlier, Sivaraj Selvaraj starred with the ball, taking three for 10.

Aruti Aces also kept their campaign on track with a 28-run victory over Novum Lions, inspired by Ally Mpeka’s unbeaten 31 and excellent bowling figures of three for 16.
With the tournament entering its decisive phase, Kumar said both the team title race and the battle for the PigaBet Player of the Series Award remain wide open as every match becomes increasingly crucial.
