
SEOUL: MINISTER for Natural Resources and Tourism Dr Ashatu Kijaji has urged Tanzania’s Embassy in South Korea to step up efforts to promote the country’s tourism attractions and expand its share of the growing Asian tourism market.
Dr Kijaji made the call during a meeting with Tanzania’s Ambassador to South Korea, Noel Kaganda, in Seoul.
She explained that the embassy had an important role to play in showcasing Tanzania’s tourism potential, noting that stronger promotion would raise the country’s profile and attract more visitors from across Asia.
According tobher, Tanzania’s tourism appeal extended beyond its world-renowned national parks and wildlife to include a rich cultural and historical heritage.
Therefore said she: “Strategic promotion of these attractions could help increase tourist arrivals and contribute to the government’s target of attracting eight million international visitors by 2030.”

Dr Kijaji is in South Korea to attend the 48th Session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, which opened on July 19 and runs until July 29 in Busan.
For Ambassador Kaganda, pledged to work closely with the Tanzania Tourist Board (TTB) to develop effective strategies for promoting Tanzania and its tourism attractions in South Korea.
According to him, there was growing interest in cultural heritage and historical tourism, presenting an opportunity for Tanzania to strengthen its presence in the Korean market.
