TABORA: DEPUTY Permanent Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PO-RALG) responsible for Health, Prof Tumaini Nagu, has said the health profession is a special calling that directly affects the lives of citizens, urging health workers to safeguard it by strictly observing ethics, professionalism and established codes of conduct.
Prof Nagu made the remarks during a visit to Urambo District Council Hospital in Tabora Region as part of his participatory supervisory tour to assess the delivery of health, social welfare and nutrition services in the region.
“Our profession is special because it touches the lives of citizens directly. This uniqueness should not make us arrogant, but should instead strengthen our commitment to serve the public with integrity and patriotism,” she said.
She called on health sector employees to jealously protect their profession by adhering to professional ethics and guidelines and by reporting individuals who violate workplace rules so that appropriate action can be taken in accordance with laws and procedures.
