KARAGWE: THE PRIME Minister’s Office has provided health insurance funding to 125 young people from the Vocational Education and Training College (VETA) Karagwe in Kagera Region who are in vulnerable circumstances as part of the implementation of health insurance for all.

Speaking at the distribution ceremony of the cards, the Director General of the National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF), Dr Irene Isaka, thanked the Prime Minister’s Office for covering the health insurance for the students.

In addition, the NHIF Karagwe Office has successfully reached VETA Karagwe College where it has registered 125 students and handed over 69 medical cards to students at the college.

“This demonstrates the Government’s commitment to improving the well-being and development of youth through access to health services.

She added, “the National Health Insurance Fund will continue to work closely with the Prime Minister’s Office and other institutions to ensure that various groups of citizens receive health protection through health insurance.”

She encouraged the youth to become Health Insurance ambassadors to their fellow youth.

In strengthening cooperation between social security institutions, Dr Isaka was accompanied by officials from the National Social Security Fund (NSSF) and the Public Servants Social Security Fund (PSSSF) of Karagwe District, who participated in the provision of education and distribution of cards to the students.

The exercise is part of NHIF’s efforts to continue educating the public about the importance of health insurance and the implementation of the Government’s vision to ensure that every Tanzanian receives reliable health services.
