DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening diplomatic and economic cooperation with Pakistan and Germany as it bid farewell to the two countries’ envoys who have completed their respective tours of duty in the country.
Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo, held farewell meetings with Pakistan’s Ambassador to Tanzania Saraj Khan, and Germany’s Ambassador Thomas Terstegen, where they reviewed bilateral relations and areas of mutual cooperation.
During the meeting with Ambassador Khan, held at the Ministry’s offices in Dar es Salaam, Ambassador Kombo commended the envoy for his contribution towards strengthening Tanzania-Pakistan relations, particularly in expanding cooperation in trade, investment, economic development and capacity building.
He highlighted the success of the Political Consultations held in Dar es Salaam in March 2024, saying the engagement helped widen areas of cooperation between the two countries, including professional training programmes that have benefited citizens from both sides.

Additionally, the minister thanked Ambassador Khan for his service and wished him success in his future responsibilities, while Ambassador Khan expressed appreciation to the Tanzanian government for the support and cooperation he received during his tenure.
The outgoing envoy said he was pleased with the growth of economic diplomacy between Tanzania and Pakistan and pledged to continue being a good ambassador of Tanzania wherever he serves.
Meanwhile, Ambassador Kombo also met with Germany’s Ambassador Thomas Terstegen in a separate farewell meeting, commending him for his role in strengthening the longstanding Tanzania-Germany partnership.
The Minister noted that during Ambassador Terstegen’s tenure, which began in 2023, cooperation between the two countries expanded in key areas including development assistance, investment, trade, water, health, environmental conservation, energy and human resource development.
Ambassador Terstegen thanked the Tanzanian government for the support extended to him throughout his mission and reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to continued cooperation with Tanzania in promoting sustainable development and improving the welfare of citizens.
