DAR ES SALAAM: THE Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Culture, Arts and Sports, who also serves as the Government Spokesperson, Gerson Msigwa, has visited the Embassy of Tanzania in France to review preparations for the upcoming International Kiswahili Day celebrations scheduled to take place in Paris.

During his visit, Msigwa held a preparatory meeting with embassy officials and members of various organising committees, where they assessed progress made, coordinated responsibilities, and reviewed overall readiness ahead of the global event.

Speaking at the meeting, the PS stated that the government is committed to ensuring the celebrations are successfully held and serve as a platform to promote the Kiswahili language, Tanzania’s cultural identity, and the opportunities that the language presents at the international level.

The International Kiswahili Day celebrations will run alongside the Second International Kiswahili Conference, scheduled to take place in Paris from July 4 to 7, 2026.

The events are expected to bring together Kiswahili stakeholders from different countries around the world.
