ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has issued a stern warning against individuals and groups engaging in acts that threaten peace and security, assuring Tanzanians that the government will take firm action to protect citizens, their lives and property.
Speaking in Zanzibar during the signing of a joint declaration between Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and ACT Wazalendo, President Samia said Tanzania would not allow actions disguised as activism but aimed at causing chaos, destroying property or destabilising the nation.
According to the Head of State some people present themselves as activists while their actions amount to serious violations of peace and security, including destruction of infrastructure, disruption of public order and attempts to pressure the government through unlawful means.
“Someone who truly loves their country builds it; they do not destroy it,” the President Samia said.
Moreover, she urged citizens to reject actions that undermine national stability and development.
The President said citizens do not need violence or endless political confrontations, but peace, security and an environment where they can engage in economic activities, access services and improve their livelihoods.
She assured Tanzanians that the government remains committed to protecting their safety and property, stressing that maintaining peace is a shared responsibility between the state and citizens.
“The government stands firm in protecting its citizens and their property. Citizens, on their part, must work together with the government in safeguarding their communities and national assets,” she said.
Warning those trying to cause conflicts and chaos on the country, she said that no country allows activities that threaten the lives of its people and national security, and Tanzania would use lawful measures to defend peace and protect its dignity.
