ZANZIBAR: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has described the signing of a Joint Political Reconciliation Declaration between the ruling Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) and ACT-Wazalendo at the Zanzibar State House as a historic milestone that will strengthen peace, unity and political stability in Zanzibar and the United Republic of Tanzania.
Addressing leaders and invited guests during the ceremony at the Zanzibar State House, President Samia said the agreement reflects political maturity and a shared commitment to placing the interests of citizens above partisan differences.
“Reconciliation is not a sign of weakness but of political maturity that builds the foundations of unity and mutual respect,” she said.
The President noted that the agreement paves the way for the re-establishment of the Government of National Unity in Zanzibar and the commencement of dialogue on the future of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar.
She urged all stakeholders to honour the agreement, sustain open dialogue and safeguard peace, security and stability, stressing that Tanzanians seek peaceful politics that enable the government to improve public services, create jobs and accelerate economic development.

She said terrorism includes serious acts that disrupt public order, destroy property and infrastructure, intimidate communities or seek to coerce governments into advancing political, ideological or religious agendas.
