DAR ES SALAAM: TANZANIA has reaffirmed its commitment to deepening diplomatic and economic relations with Egypt, citing longstanding ties and growing opportunities for cooperation across key sectors.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation at celebrations marking the 74th anniversary of Egypt’s Revolution in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation Dr Ngwaru Maghembe congratulated the Egyptian people on the milestone.
He explained that Egypt had made significant progress over the past 74 years in maintaining peace, developing infrastructure and advancing sustainable development.
Dr Maghembe noted that the celebrations came at an important time following the state visit to Tanzania by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, which he said had opened a new chapter in strategic cooperation and strengthened diplomatic relations between the two countries.
According to him, Tanzania remained committed to deepening diplomatic ties established with Egypt in 1964 while expanding cooperation in trade, investment, education, energy, transport, industry, health, defence and water resources management.

For Dr Maghembe, stronger bilateral relations between Tanzania and Egypt would also support the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063, while contributing to broader efforts to build a peaceful, united, prosperous and inclusive Africa.
For his part, Egypt’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Sherif Ahmed Ismail, commended the Tanzanian Government for promoting economic diplomacy and creating a conducive environment for trade and investment between the two countries.
Ambassador Ismail mentioned that he was encouraged by the outcomes of the Tanzania-Egypt Business Forum held in Dar es Salaam, saying the event had strengthened business-to-business ties, expanded trade and investment opportunities and laid a solid foundation for long-term economic cooperation.
He therefore said that the growing partnership between the two countries would create greater opportunities and deliver mutual benefits for Tanzanians and Egyptians.
