DODOMA Regional Commissioner Rosemary Senyamule has urged the Union of Online Media Practitioners of Dodoma Region (UMIKIDO) to serve as a catalyst for strengthening communication between the Government and citizens through accurate information dissemination and creative digital content.
RC Senyamule made the remarks in the capital city yesterday, shortly after UMIKIDO leaders paid her a courtesy visit to introduce themselves and seek cooperation with the Dodoma Regional Office.
“Congratulations on establishing this union. I am very pleased, as it will ease our work and serve as an important link between the Regional Government and online media outlets. We have long wished to have people who speak the same language as the Government, and we believe you are patriots,” said Senyamule as she welcomed the UMIKIDO leaders.
She explained that the presence of the union will help the Government convey information to citizens more effectively, while also increasing public awareness of various activities and projects being implemented for national development.
“It is important for Tanzanians to continue understanding the work being done by the Government. I am confident that you will be creative in preparing and disseminating information through channels that are easily accessible to the public,” she added.
Furthermore, RC Senyamule urged UMIKIDO members to focus on promoting strategic projects and development plans, including environmental conservation, the use of clean cooking energy, tourism and sports, as well as mobilizing the public for various events leading up to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Earlier, UMIKIDO leaders outlined the vision and objectives behind the establishment of the union, including strengthening ethics in online journalism and working closely with the Government to provide accurate information to the public.
They also requested cooperation from the Office of the Regional Commissioner to help achieve these goals.
Leaders who participated in the visit included Benny Majata (UMIKIDO Chairperson), Emmanuel Charles (Secretary), Zena Chitwanga (Treasurer), Daniel Mkate (Public Relations Officer), Alex Sonna (Monitoring Committee), Henry Masanja (Disciplinary Committee), and Ronald Sonyo (Finance and Planning Committee
