DAR ES SALAAM: DAR ES SALAAM has been selected to host the opening round of the National Disability Football Premier League in June, marking a significant step in Tanzania’s drive to strengthen its competitiveness on both regional and continental football stages.
The Tanzania Amputee Football Federation (TAFF) Public Relations Officer, Khalid Msabaha, said the league will serve as a crucial platform for talent identification and player development, laying the foundation for strong national teams ahead of upcoming international tournaments.

He revealed that Tanzania is preparing to participate in both East African and African championships for men and women later this year, with the league expected to play a central role in shaping competitive squads.
“The event strengthens talent identification and player development. By launching the league in a central location like Dar es Salaam, football authorities can attract scouts, coaches, and key stakeholders who will identify promising players for regional and continental competitions,” Msabaha said.
He added that the initiative directly contributes to building a stronger national team capable of competing at higher levels, including CECAFA and CAF tournaments.
“The main objective of the league is to identify competitive players who can represent the country at international level,” he emphasized.
Msabaha noted that while the domestic competition calendar is already in place, with the Premier League scheduled to begin in June, details of international fixtures are still pending.
“At the international level, we are awaiting official schedules from the Confederation of African Football, as well as confirmation of East African competitions for both men and women. So far, host countries have not been announced,” he explained.
He further said that hosting the league’s opening round in Dar es Salaam reflects Tanzania’s commitment to inclusive sports development, strengthens the competitive base of disability football, and positions the nation more effectively for success on regional and continental fronts.
“The league is expected to play a significant role in promoting inclusive sports development and enhancing Tanzania’s competitiveness in disability football across the region and the continent,” he concluded.
