DAR ES SALAAM: A delegation from Maniema Province, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) met with stakeholders from the Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF) and the Tanzania National Chamber of Commerce (TNCC) to discuss trade and investment opportunities between Tanzania and the DRC.

Speaking at the opening of the meeting held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania’s Ambassador to the DRC, Said Mshana, said that the DRC delegation’s visit is a sign of strengthening diplomatic relations between the two countries.

“This is an important step in enhancing bilateral relations, promoting trade, and attracting investments that can benefit both countries,” Ambassador Mshana stated.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Maniema Province, Moise Kabwankubi, encouraged Tanzanian investors to take advantage of economic opportunities in the province, particularly in strategic sectors such as mining, commercial agriculture, fisheries, and tourism.

Additionally, Executive Director of the Central Corridor, Flory Okonge, highlighted that the implementation of a modern railway project in the Central Corridor will improve cargo transport efficiency and reduce business costs, boosting the competitiveness of goods in regional and international markets.

TPSF and TNCC officials said they are ready to collaborate with businesses, institutions, and companies from the DRC in identified priority areas. During the meeting, participants had the opportunity for direct discussions and Q&A sessions to better understand available opportunities in both the DRC and Tanzania and how to leverage them effectively.

Participants from Tanzania included stakeholders from agriculture, land and air transport, mining companies, roofing and steel industries, among others.
