MTWARA: THE MINISTER for Energy, Deogratius Ndejembi, has arrived in Mtwara Region to inspect and launch various natural gas projects, including the launch of a drilling exercise to increase natural gas production as well as research wells to increase natural gas reserves in the Mnazi Bay and Ntorya Blocks.

Ndejembi was received by the Acting Regional Commissioner of Mtwara, Abdallah Mwaipaya, along with leaders of the Chama Cha Mapinduzi and the Government, today, February 27, 2026.

During the visit, Minister Ndejembi was accompanied by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy in charge of Oil and Gas, Dr. James Mataragio, as well as experts from the Ministry of Energy and institutions that handle and manage oil and gas activities in the country.

The visit aims to strengthen the implementation of the National Strategy to increase the use of natural gas by increasing the availability of gas for electricity generation, industrial and domestic use.
