
IRINGA: THE Deputy Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries, Dr Fabian Madele, has called on stakeholders in Tanzania’s dairy industry to strengthen collaboration in order to improve productivity in milk production, processing, and marketing, ultimately increasing farmers’ incomes and contributing to national economic growth.
Dr Madele made the remarks during his visit to the Heifer International Tanzania exhibition booth at the ongoing National Milk Week celebrations in Iringa Region.
During the visit, he learned about Heifer Tanzania’s partnership with the government and other stakeholders in addressing hunger and poverty through improved dairy farming practices and sustainable livestock development.

Heifer Tanzania showcased the achievements of its various projects, which are helping smallholder dairy farmers increase milk production, access reliable markets, and improve the livelihoods of their families. The organization has also been at the forefront of empowering women and youth to actively participate in the dairy value chain through capacity building, financial inclusion, and the strengthening of cooperative groups.
Dr Madele commended Heifer Tanzania for its contribution to the development of the dairy sector and emphasized that strong collaboration between the Government, private sector actors, and development partners remains essential in achieving this year’s National Milk Week theme: “Formalize the Dairy Business, Protect Consumers’ Lives, Increase Incomes, and Contribute to Economic Growth.
The National Milk Week celebrations are taking place in Iringa from May 28 to June 1, bringing together key stakeholders from across the dairy sector to discuss opportunities, challenges, and strategies for enhancing dairy production, consumption, and market development in Tanzania.
