
MANYONI: PRIME Minister Mwigulu Nchemba has inspected the progress of a 28bn/- Manyoni Town Water Supply Improvement Project in Singida Region, which is now 80 per cent complete and expected to serve more than 64,667 residents upon completion.
During his working visit at the area today, May 30, 2026, the Prime Minister was briefed by Manyoni Urban Water Supply and Sanitation Authority (MAUWASA) Managing Director Engineer Lucas Mwinuka, who said the project is scheduled for completion on August 10, 2026.
Eng Mwinuka said the government-funded project, implemented through the Ministry of Water, includes drilling water wells, constructing a pumping station, building a two-million-litre storage tank, and laying distribution pipelines to supply residents.
He added that once completed, the project will increase water production from 2.057 million litres per day to 6.48 million litres per day, significantly improving access to clean and safe water in Manyoni Town.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister for Water Eng Kundo Mathew said the project is part of the ruling party manifesto implementation aimed at expanding access to clean and safe water across the country.
He noted that the Manyoni project is part of the fourth phase of the 28 Town Water Project programme covering Kiomboi, Singida, Manyoni, Chamwino, Chemba and Mugumu at a total cost of over 142bn/-, with completion expected to raise water access in Manyoni from 49 per cent to 100 per cent and secure supply for the next 20 years.
