
DAR ES SALAAM: THE Office of the Treasury Registrar has announced that preparations are underway for the 2026 Dividend Day, a key national event that highlights the performance and returns from government investments in public institutions and companies.
According to the statement issued in Dar es Salaam, said the event reflects the government’s continued commitment to transparency, accountability, and the effective management of public assets for the benefit of all Tanzanians.
The 2026 Dividend Day will be held on June 30, 2026, at State House in Dar es Salaam. The event will be graced by the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, as the Guest of Honour.
During the event, public institutions and companies in which the government holds shares will present dividends and other financial contributions to the government.
These funds represent returns from public investments and are later used to support national development priorities, including education, health services, energy projects, and infrastructure development.
Officials said Dividend Day is designed to help citizens understand how public investments are performing and how they contribute to national development. It also strengthens accountability in the management of state-owned enterprises.
The 2026 theme, “Public Investment with Results: A Pillar of Competitive Economy and Sustainable Development Towards Vision 2050,” emphasizes the importance of ensuring that every public investment delivers real and measurable benefits to citizens.
According to the Office of the Treasury Registrar, the theme aligns with the government’s broader goal of building a strong and competitive economy under Vision 2050, where public investments are managed efficiently and produce visible results for wananchi. Fisheries Legal advice
The government said Dividend Day also serves as a platform to promote good governance, transparency, and performance improvement in public institutions.

Officials praised institutions that have already submitted their dividends and contributions on time, saying this reflects discipline, professionalism, and commitment to national responsibility. They also urged those still finalizing their submissions to complete the process without delay.
As part of the 2026 event, institutions that demonstrate strong performance and contribute significant dividends will be recognized and awarded by President Samia Suluhu Hassan.
The awards aim to encourage healthy competition and improve efficiency in public investment management.
The Office of the Treasury Registrar noted that by June 2025, the government had invested more than 92 trillion shillings in public institutions and companies.
