DODOMA: THE Minister for Home Affairs, Patrobas Katambi, said the Tanzania Police Force continues to take legal measures to curb acts that violate Tanzanian moral values, customs, and traditions through the enforcement of various national laws.
Katambi made the remarks on June 15, 2026, in Parliament in Dodoma while responding to a question from Katavi Member of Parliament Thomas Kamala, who sought clarification on measures being taken by community police officers to address immoral conduct within streets and local wards.
The minister stated that the Penal Code provides penalties for a range of offenses that contravene societal moral standards, including prison sentences of varying lengths depending on the severity of the offense committed.
According to Katambi, law enforcement agencies are continuing to monitor, investigate, and take action against individuals found engaging in such offenses. He emphasized that Tanzanian laws prohibit acts that are contrary to societal values and the legal framework established in the country.

He added that cooperation between citizens, local leaders, and law enforcement authorities is essential in safeguarding societal values and maintaining peace, security, and stability throughout the country.
