DAR ES SALAAM: THE Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) Kariakoo Tax Region has commended taxpayers in the Mchikichini area for their significant contribution towards enabling the Authority to achieve various milestones during its 30 years since establishment.
TRA said the close cooperation and voluntary tax compliance by the business community have continued to contribute to economic growth, improvement of social services, and the implementation of various development projects across the country.
The recognition was given by Acting TRA Kariakoo Manager, Edson Issanya, during his visit to Kijiwe cha Mchikichini as part of activities marking TRA’s 30th anniversary celebrations and a campaign to appreciate taxpayers for their contribution.
Speaking during the visit, Issanya said TRA has continued to establish systems aimed at supporting businesses in addressing tax-related challenges through the Business Facilitation Desk within the Authority.
“We have a special Business Facilitation Desk dedicated to addressing tax challenges and making it easier to find solutions by working together with various institutions involved in business. I want to assure traders not to be afraid; visit TRA offices, explain your challenge, and we will work together to resolve it,” Issanya said.

He added that traders should become ambassadors by encouraging others to use TRA services, emphasizing that the Authority’s offices remain open and committed to improving services for all taxpayers.
The visit also provided an opportunity for Mchikichini taxpayers to present their challenges, share views, and engage with TRA officials on ways to further improve tax services.
TRA said the initiative aligns with the Authority’s commitment to placing taxpayers at the centre of its services and strengthening relationships with various stakeholders.
TRA’s 30th anniversary celebrations are continuing across the country through activities aimed at reaching taxpayers, recognizing their contributions, and promoting voluntary tax compliance.
The celebrations are expected to culminate on Taxpayer Day, scheduled for July 1, 2026, where the guest of honour is expected to be the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan.
