ARUSHA: AGRICULTURE Minister Daniel Chongolo has pledged to spearhead efforts to secure an X-ray machine for Lowassa Sepeko Health Centre in Monduli District, saying the equipment will strengthen emergency medical services for residents, travellers and tourists using the Arusha–Dodoma highway.
The highway also serves as a key gateway to the Ngorongoro and Serengeti national parks through Karatu, making the health centre strategically important for emergency response.
Mr Chongolo made the commitment on Thursday while inspecting and laying the foundation stone for the newly constructed health centre, built at a cost of about 358.5m/-. The project was financed by the Government, Monduli District Council’s own-source revenue, residents and development partners.
He also directed the National Irrigation Commission to drill a borehole at the facility within one month to ensure a reliable water supply.

The minister instructed Sapeko Ward Councillor, Mr Teretui Kimay, to coordinate the procurement of a water pump immediately after the borehole is completed.
“I also direct the Monduli District Commissioner to ensure TANESCO connects electricity to the health centre so that both the facility and the borehole pump become operational immediately after the borehole is completed,” Mr Chongolo said.
Speaking at the event, Arusha Regional Administrative Secretary, Dr Toba Nguvila, said the health centre is crucial in providing emergency services, particularly for victims of road accidents and other emergencies along the busy Arusha–Dodoma highway.
He said expanding services at the facility, including the installation of an X-ray machine, would significantly improve healthcare delivery and ensure timely treatment for travellers and residents of Sapeko Ward.
Earlier, Monduli Member of Parliament Mr Joseph Copriano and CCM National Executive Committee member Ms Namelok Sokoine commended President Samia Suluhu Hassan for her continued investment in development projects in Monduli District.
They said the government’s investment in healthcare and other social services reflects its commitment to improving people’s welfare and accelerating development in the district.
