DAR ES SALAAM: The Director of Presidential Communications at State House, Bakari Machumu, has resigned from his position as Vice Chairman of the Tanzania Editors’ Forum (TEF).

Machumu submitted his resignation letter to the TEF Chairman, Deodatus Balile, today, Wednesday, November 26, 2025, during an internal meeting held at State House in Dar es Salaam.

Speaking about his decision, Machumu said that due to his new government position, he foresees a conflict of interest if he continues to hold the TEF leadership role.

After receiving the resignation letter, Balile accepted Machumu’s decision and stated that the TEF Executive Committee will convene later today to discuss the matter and determine the next steps.

Recently, President Samia Suluhu Hassan appointed Machumu as the Director of Presidential Communications at State House.
